Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, performing quality blood draws and specimen preparation for lab testing while maintaining patient trust, safety, and confidentiality.
  • The role emphasizes process excellence, accuracy, and professionalism in a patient-facing environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen collection activities accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and process specimens following established practices and procedures.
  • Maintain required records and documentation for patient samples.
  • Create a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for patients.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, colleagues, and the public.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection as directed by supervisor.
    Adapt to flexible scheduling needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required; 1+ years preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficient in keyboarding/data entry.

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in CA, NV, WA)
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
