Position Summary:
- Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients and represents the organization in both clinical and service settings.
- Responsible for performing high-quality blood specimen collection, including venipuncture and capillary draws, while ensuring patient safety, accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- This role requires strong phlebotomy expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture, capillary collections, and specimen processing in clinical and forensic settings.
- Collect pediatric, adult, and geriatric specimens using proper identification and labeling protocols.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture to confirm accurate labeling.
- Ensure specimens are properly labeled, processed, stored, and prepared for laboratory testing.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and promote organizational commitment.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Create a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting daily productivity and accuracy goals.
- Travel between Patient Service Centers (PSC) and in-office phlebotomy locations as required.
- Adapt to flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage.
- Demonstrate superior customer service and effective communication with patients, peers, and supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Experience in Patient Service Center (PSC) environment preferred.
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary collection, and specimen handling.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if applicable).
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and follow established procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training.
- Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA).
- Customer service experience in retail or healthcare environment.
