Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collections accurately per protocol.
  • Follows proper protocols for legal blood alcohol collections and indwelling line draws.
  • Conducts specimen handling, identification, processing, and transport prep.
  • Performs limited CLIA-waived testing, EKGs, breath alcohol, and other duties by site.
  • Uses EPIC and LIS systems for patient check-ins, order entry, and issue resolution.
  • Maintains work area, stocks supplies, monitors expiration dates, and assists in training.
  • Prioritizes draw requests and ensures timely, accurate labeling and delivery of specimens.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Inpatient phlebotomy experience – Required.
  • High-volume blood draw experience – Required.
  • 6 months of healthcare experience with direct patient contact – Required.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Graduate of a phlebotomy or accredited Medical Assistant program – Preferred.
  • ASCP certification – Preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent – Preferred.
