Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collections accurately per protocol.
- Follows proper protocols for legal blood alcohol collections and indwelling line draws.
- Conducts specimen handling, identification, processing, and transport prep.
- Performs limited CLIA-waived testing, EKGs, breath alcohol, and other duties by site.
- Uses EPIC and LIS systems for patient check-ins, order entry, and issue resolution.
- Maintains work area, stocks supplies, monitors expiration dates, and assists in training.
- Prioritizes draw requests and ensures timely, accurate labeling and delivery of specimens.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Inpatient phlebotomy experience – Required.
- High-volume blood draw experience – Required.
- 6 months of healthcare experience with direct patient contact – Required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Graduate of a phlebotomy or accredited Medical Assistant program – Preferred.
- ASCP certification – Preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent – Preferred.
