Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections.
  • Collect and process specimens according to laboratory protocols.
  • Obtain blood specimens via indwelling lines.
  • Perform limited CLIA-waived testing.
  • Enter and release laboratory orders.
  • Resolve specimen identification and order issues.
  • Contact patients for repeat collections as needed.
  • Prepare specimens for transport to alternate testing sites.
  • Perform EKGs, breath alcohol testing, drug screen collections, spirometry, and culture setup as assigned
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, equipment, and work areas.
  • Assist with training new employees and students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months of healthcare experience with direct patient contact.
  • Inpatient Phlebotomy experience required.
  • High-volume blood draw experience required.
  • English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Phlebotomy Training Program.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • ASCP Certification preferred.
