Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is responsible for collecting and processing high-quality blood and specimen samples from patients in a professional, accurate, and compassionate manner.
- This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service while ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.
- The PSR II serves as a representative of the company, building trust and confidence with every patient interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties following established laboratory standards and procedures.
- Draw blood specimens skillfully and safely from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Prepare, label, and verify all samples accurately, ensuring patient identification and documentation compliance.
- Maintain and organize patient records, documentation, and logs according to company and regulatory requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service while explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Perform verification of patient demographics, initials, and signatures post-venipuncture to confirm accuracy of labeling.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required paperwork, logs, and reports.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors, professionalism, and commitment to process excellence.
- Travel to various locations as assigned to cover patient service centers or in-office phlebotomy sites.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including health and safety, dress code, and confidentiality standards.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, and WA).
Experience:
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections).
- 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail, healthcare, or service industry highly preferred.
Skills:
- Strong phlebotomy and specimen processing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in data entry and electronic medical systems.
- Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
