Job Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative II serves as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a professional, compassionate, and efficient experience. This role involves collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and maintaining compliance with all safety, confidentiality, and procedural standards. The PSR II fosters trust and confidence by clearly explaining procedures and performing phlebotomy with skill, accuracy, and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing tasks accurately, on time, and in accordance with established procedures.
- Create a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients.
- Perform venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, and geriatric blood draws confidently and safely.
- Verify patient identification, demographic details, and specimen labeling in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance logs.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and colleagues.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering patient inquiries and addressing concerns professionally.
- Work in multiple locations, including doctor’s offices, patient service centers, or other assigned sites.
- Adhere to company policies, dress code, health & safety regulations, and confidentiality standards.
- Adapt to changing schedules, including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime as needed.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required). Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (preferred). Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in CA, NV, WA).
Experience:
- 3+ years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections (required).
- 2+ years in a Patient Service Center environment (preferred).
- Customer service experience in retail or service settings (preferred).
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong phlebotomy skills with a focus on accuracy and patient comfort.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in high-volume environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Flexibility to travel and cover multiple locations on short notice.
