Job Description
Job Summary:
- Performs phlebotomy procedures for inpatients, outpatients, and walk-in patients.
- Responsible for specimen collection, processing, and maintaining accurate documentation while ensuring high-quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collections (routine, STAT, timed).
- Collect and process blood specimens accurately and efficiently.
- Assist patients with urine and stool collection instructions.
- Maintain proper documentation and workflow organization.
- Operate lab systems for test orders, reporting, and tracking.
- Handle accessioning, specimen processing, and registration tasks.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and lab staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and lab protocols.
- Support training of new staff and students as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. – Required.
Experience:
- 2–3+ years preferred (hospital, transplant, or donor settings highly preferred).
- Required One year hospital experience (including venipuncture experience).
Skills and Abilities:
- Must have ability to use standard office equipment (telephones, fax machines, computer terminals, etc.). – Required.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality of work related information. – Required.
- Must possess good communication and organization skills.
- Must be able to work efficiently under stressful conditions and time constraints.
- Strong experience with difficult draws required.

- Knowledge of lab procedures and specimen handling.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Exposure to blood and biohazard materials.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
