Job Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples and preparing them for laboratory testing.
- This role involves direct interaction with patients, creating a supportive and professional experience during specimen collection.
- PSR IIs may be assigned to a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood specimens from patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Label and process specimens accurately following established procedures.
- Verify patient identity and obtain signatures post-collection.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Accurately perform clinical and forensic specimen collection tasks.
- Ensure confidentiality and data accuracy in handling patient information.
- Communicate clearly with patients and team members.
- Adapt to schedule changes and travel to multiple locations as needed.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, and WA).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- At least 2 years working in a Patient Service Center preferred.
- Experience in customer service (retail/service) is a plus.
- Comfortable using computers for data entry.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong phlebotomy skills in high-volume environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must demonstrate strong customer focus and professionalism.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record required.
- Flexible to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Willing to travel and cover different locations on short notice.
