Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples and preparing them for laboratory testing.
  • This role involves direct interaction with patients, creating a supportive and professional experience during specimen collection.
  • PSR IIs may be assigned to a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood specimens from patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Label and process specimens accurately following established procedures.
  • Verify patient identity and obtain signatures post-collection.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Accurately perform clinical and forensic specimen collection tasks.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data accuracy in handling patient information.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and team members.
  • Adapt to schedule changes and travel to multiple locations as needed.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, and WA).

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • At least 2 years working in a Patient Service Center preferred.
  • Experience in customer service (retail/service) is a plus.
  • Comfortable using computers for data entry.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong phlebotomy skills in high-volume environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong customer focus and professionalism.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record required.
  • Flexible to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  • Willing to travel and cover different locations on short notice.
