Position Overview:
- The Phlebotomist II represents the face of our organization to patients, whether they visit as part of routine health care or for critical diagnostic insights.
- This role involves drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to established protocols.
- The Phlebotomist II ensures patient comfort, builds trust, and maintains confidentiality throughout the process.
- Successful candidates may work in a physician’s office, patient service center, or other designated locations as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection with accuracy and professionalism.
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company standards.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Uphold safety and infection control guidelines to maintain a professional environment.
- Deliver superior customer service and foster a positive patient experience.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public.
- Travel and provide coverage at multiple locations as needed, sometimes with minimal notice.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Commitment to company policies, dress code, and health & safety standards.
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (mandatory in CA, NV, WA).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- At least 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience required.
