Phlebotomist

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collects blood specimens using aseptic technique across all age groups.
• Draws blood into correct tubes and vials for testing.
• Maintains supply levels and work area organization.
• Records refrigerator temps and logs patient activity daily.
• Performs phlebotomy duties at off-site locations, including house calls and health fairs.
• Communicates effectively based on patient population needs.
• Adheres to Medical Center’s standards and organizational competencies.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent – Required.

Licensure & Certifications:

• Phlebotomy certification or equivalent – Required.
• ASCP registered or eligible – Preferred.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven phlebotomy skills with patients of all ages.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• 95%+ first-attempt success rate; no more than 2 venipuncture attempts per patient.
• Computer literacy.
• Strong communication and bedside manner.
