Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Patient Services Representative III (PSR III) serves as the face of our company to patients, whether they are visiting for routine health services or critical health decisions.
  • The PSR III is responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples from patients and preparing specimens for laboratory testing, strictly following established procedures.
  • This role requires creating a trusting and confident environment by explaining procedures clearly and performing blood draws skillfully, safely, and accurately.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily tasks accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment at all times.
  • Confidently perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing per established guidelines.
  • Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens, including obtaining patient signatures post-venipuncture to confirm specimen accuracy.
  • Maintain thorough records and documentation as required.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and promote a positive image to patients, clients, colleagues, and the general public.
  • Adapt to assignments at various locations including doctor’s offices, patient service centers, or other sites as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification required for positions in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • Minimum of three years’ phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • At least two years’ experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service industries is a plus.
  • Proficient keyboard/data entry skills.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including with pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as staffing needs require.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent communication skills, transparency, and the ability to embrace change.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if travel is required.
