Job Summary:
- The PSR II serves as the primary point of contact for patients, providing essential services for routine health check-ups or significant health decisions.
- In this role, the PSR II will collect blood samples and prepare them for lab testing while following established protocols.
- A key part of the role is creating a trustworthy environment for patients, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring safe, accurate specimen collection.
- The PSR II will also exhibit leadership, a commitment to process excellence, and attention to confidentiality and patient data accuracy.
- This position may involve working in a doctor’s office, patient service center, or as needed based on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute daily tasks efficiently and on schedule under the guidance of the area supervisor.
- Ensure a safe and professional environment at all times.
- Perform specimen collection and processing for both forensic and clinical samples, following established guidelines.
- Verify patient information (demographics and signature) post-venipuncture to ensure proper labeling.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
- Represent the organization positively to patients, clients, colleagues, and the public.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Adherence to company policies and guidelines, including dress code, health & safety protocols, and excellence principles.
- Ability to make decisions based on standard procedures and demonstrate sound judgment.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).
- Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.
- Superior customer service skills, effective communication, adaptability, and a strong understanding of the business.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical Training:
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Training locations may vary based on the trainer’s availability.
- Phlebotomy certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years phlebotomy experience (including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections).
- At least 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center preferred.
- Experience in customer service (retail or service environment) preferred.
- Experience with keyboarding/data entry.
