Job Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) represents the face of the company to patients who visit for routine care or critical health-related decisions.
- The PSR I is responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to all established procedures and safety protocols.
- With direct patient contact, the PSR I fosters trust and confidence by thoroughly explaining procedures and performing collections in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.
- This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent phlebotomy technique, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and process excellence.
- PSR I team members may be placed in clinics, patient service centers, or other healthcare settings as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily tasks accurately, efficiently, and on time.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing with confidence and accuracy in accordance with established guidelines.
- Verify patient identification, including full name and date of birth, and confirm tube labeling in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain accurate documentation and specimen tracking as required by company policies.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, colleagues, and the public.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to consistently produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime as needed.
- Must adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety protocols, and dress code standards.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a dynamic setting.
- Superior customer service focus with strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel between locations and work flexible shifts as needed.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; REQUIRED in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy or patient-facing experience REQUIRED.
- 1 year or more of phlebotomy experience preferred, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Experience in customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry skills are essential.
