Job Summary:

  • The Phlebotomist III – Float represents the face of the company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. This role requires drawing quality blood samples from patients and preparing those specimens for lab testing while adhering to established practices and procedures.
  • The Phlebotomist III – Float has direct contact with patients, helping to build trust and confidence while performing blood collections in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. This position provides coverage at multiple locations and in various roles such as Patient Service Centers, In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP), Mobile, and Long-Term Care. Candidates must be able to act as a lead on-site and support onboarding for new clients and employees.
  • This role often supports complex and high-volume practices, requiring excellent communication and collaboration across multiple departments including Sales, Lab Testing, IT, Billing, and Logistics.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and advanced phlebotomy duties, including pediatric and geriatric collections, in diverse settings.
  • Float between multiple locations, providing seamless coverage across PSC, IOP, LTC, and mobile services.
  • Create a positive and professional environment for patients and staff while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Coach, mentor, and train new employees; assist with onboarding and serve as a resource on site.
  • Act as point of contact for staff at assigned location(s); provide input to group leads or supervisors.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and work area to ensure a safe and efficient collection environment.
  • Rotate and restock inventory, ensuring product use before expiration.
  • Participate in cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory as needed.
  • Prepack and break down bulk packaging for efficient stock management.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
  • Ability to travel to and work from multiple locations with minimal notice.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills include venipuncture, pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication must be comfortable interacting with diverse patients and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Leadership capabilities with willingness to act as a site lead or support resource.
  • Committed to compliance with safety, dress code, and all company policies and procedures.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

  • Five years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a PSC or IOP setting preferred.
  • Experience in customer service within a retail or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience required.
