Job Summary

  • The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing high-quality patient care during specimen collection.
  • This role is responsible for collecting and processing blood and other specimens while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality.
  • The PSR I plays a critical role in creating a welcoming and trustworthy environment for patients seeking routine or life-impacting diagnostic services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily patient service and specimen collection activities accurately and on time under the direction of the Area Supervisor.
  • Draw high-quality blood samples using established procedures and protocols.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling and documentation.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection with confidence.
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients to alleviate concerns and build trust.
  • Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and organizational commitment.
  • Promote a positive image of the company to patients, clients, staff, and the public.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
  • Proficient in keyboarding and data entry.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferredCertification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience (Required).
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
