Job Description

Position Overview:

  • The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional service to patients seeking routine or critical diagnostic testing.
  • This role involves collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing them for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures are performed safely, skillfully, and in accordance with established standards.
  • The ideal candidate will create a trusted, confident experience for patients while demonstrating strong process-driven skills, confidentiality awareness, and accuracy in handling sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing tasks accurately and on time under the direction of the Area Supervisor.
  • Collect high-quality blood specimens from patients—including pediatric and geriatric populations—using safe and established techniques.
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory analysis, following all procedural and safety guidelines.
    Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment at all times.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and represent the organization positively to patients, clients, and colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and necessary documentation.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and accuracy in handling patient information.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and uphold professional behavior that reflects company values.
  • Remain flexible and available to support staffing needs—including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime as required.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic (Preferred).
  • Phlebotomy certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, and WA).

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required).
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience (Preferred).
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environments (Preferred).
  • Keyboarding/data entry experience (Required).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Ability to produce accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Professionalism and commitment to patient care.
