Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the face of the organization, providing professional, compassionate, and high-quality service to patients during their lab visits.
  • The PSR is responsible for performing venipuncture and specimen collection accurately and efficiently, while maintaining patient comfort, confidentiality, and trust.
  • This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures (including pediatric and geriatric patients) in accordance with established protocols.
  • Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing while ensuring proper patient identification.
  • Verify patient demographic information and obtain required signatures post-collection.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and chain of custody as required.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and professional work environment at all times.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and promote a positive patient experience.
  • Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Adhere to company policies, including safety, dress code, and quality standards.
  • Support multiple work locations as needed, including Patient Service Centers and in-office phlebotomy sites.
  • Perform daily operational tasks accurately and on schedule under minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery.
  • Exhibit flexibility to accommodate weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage when required.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of recent phlebotomy experience (clinical or patient service setting preferred).
  • Proven ability to perform high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills with experience in pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and commitment to scheduled shifts.
  • Reliable transportation required (public or rideshare transportation is not acceptable).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Commitment to company values, safety policies, and process excellence standards.

Additional Details:

  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to stay for the full scheduled shift.
  • Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
  • Training locations may vary based on business needs and trainer availability.
