Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the frontline representative of the organization, providing high-quality phlebotomy services to patients seeking routine health evaluations or critical diagnostic testing.
  • This role is responsible for collecting accurate and safe blood specimens, preparing them for laboratory analysis, and delivering exceptional patient care.
  • The Phlebotomist I is expected to foster an environment of trust, professionalism, and patient comfort while upholding strict confidentiality, compliance, and safety standards.
  • Under the supervision of the Area Supervisor, this position performs day-to-day responsibilities efficiently, maintains a clean and professional workspace, and consistently demonstrates strong organizational commitment and leadership behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing tasks accurately, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
  • Collect high-quality forensic and clinical specimens (including pediatric and geriatric patients) using proper venipuncture and capillary techniques.
  • Verify patient identification, label specimens correctly, and ensure compliance with safety and quality guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and professional work environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Provide clear communication to patients, explaining procedures and ensuring a comfortable and confident experience.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and professionalism while promoting a positive client and public image.
  • Work independently with minimal on-site supervision, meeting productivity and quality expectations.
  • Support staffing needs by being available for weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Medical training (Medical Assistant, EMT/Paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (Mandatory in CA, NV, WA).

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred (retail or service environment).
  • Strong keyboard/data entry skills required.
