Position Summary:
- The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the frontline representative of the organization, providing high-quality phlebotomy services to patients seeking routine health evaluations or critical diagnostic testing.
- This role is responsible for collecting accurate and safe blood specimens, preparing them for laboratory analysis, and delivering exceptional patient care.
- The Phlebotomist I is expected to foster an environment of trust, professionalism, and patient comfort while upholding strict confidentiality, compliance, and safety standards.
- Under the supervision of the Area Supervisor, this position performs day-to-day responsibilities efficiently, maintains a clean and professional workspace, and consistently demonstrates strong organizational commitment and leadership behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing tasks accurately, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
- Collect high-quality forensic and clinical specimens (including pediatric and geriatric patients) using proper venipuncture and capillary techniques.
- Verify patient identification, label specimens correctly, and ensure compliance with safety and quality guidelines.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and professional work environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide clear communication to patients, explaining procedures and ensuring a comfortable and confident experience.
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and professionalism while promoting a positive client and public image.
- Work independently with minimal on-site supervision, meeting productivity and quality expectations.
- Support staffing needs by being available for weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Medical training (Medical Assistant, EMT/Paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Mandatory in CA, NV, WA).
Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred (retail or service environment).
- Strong keyboard/data entry skills required.
