Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the company, interacting directly with patients who visit for routine health services or important diagnostic testing.
  • This role is responsible for collecting quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
  • The PSR I builds trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and performing specimen collection in a safe, skillful, and professional manner.
  • This position requires strong attention to confidentiality, accuracy, leadership behaviors, and commitment to process excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily activities accurately and in a timely manner under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.
  • Ensure proper preparation and handling of laboratory specimens.
  • Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Provide excellent patient care while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts based on staffing needs.
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred).
  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience (required).
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience (preferred).
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred).
  • Data entry experience (required).
