Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the company to patients visiting for routine health screenings or important medical decisions.
  • This role is responsible for collecting quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while following established procedures and safety standards.
  • The PSR I interacts directly with patients, fostering an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and performing specimen collection in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.
  • The position emphasizes leadership behaviors, process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy in handling patient information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.
  • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of required records.
  • Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and professionalism at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred).
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience required.
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Data entry experience required.
