Job Description
Job Summary:
- Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab.
- Performs various types of specimen collection, phlebotomy (including mobile route) and drug test monitoring.
- Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur.
- Serves as member of laboratory client services team.
- May prepare specimens for testing, accessioning and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs the full range of duties from specimen procurement through specimen processing by using laboratory equipment and devices.
- Acts as a resource for the lab by handling and triaging inquiries to the appropriate personnel, including giving out lab reports and delivering specimens to the appropriate division.

Required Education:
- Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes gained through education, experience, or a combination of the two.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I).

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Prefer one year of phlebotomy experience.
- Completion of UCI phlebotomy program.
