Job Summary
- The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing high-quality patient care during specimen collection.
- This role is responsible for collecting and processing blood and other specimens while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality.
- The PSR I plays a critical role in creating a welcoming and trustworthy environment for patients seeking routine or life-impacting diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily patient service and specimen collection activities accurately and on time under the direction of the Area Supervisor.
- Draw high-quality blood samples using established procedures and protocols.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling and documentation.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection with confidence.
- Explain procedures clearly to patients to alleviate concerns and build trust.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and organizational commitment.
- Promote a positive image of the company to patients, clients, staff, and the public.
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
- Proficient in keyboarding and data entry.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferredCertification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience (Required).
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Prior customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
