Job Description
Job Summary:
- Performs phlebotomy procedures for inpatients, outpatients, and walk-in patients.
- Responsible for specimen collection, processing, and maintaining accurate documentation while ensuring quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collections (routine, STAT, timed).
- Collect and process specimens ensuring accuracy and timely results.
- Instruct patients on urine and stool specimen collection.
- Maintain proper documentation and workflow efficiency.
- Handle lab systems for ordering, tracking, and reporting tests.
- Perform accessioning, registration, and specimen processing.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and lab staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and lab protocols.
- Support training of new staff and students.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required),
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 1 year phlebotomy experience (hospital preferred).
- Strong experience with difficult draws (transplant/donor settings preferred).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
- High-volume, fast-paced clinical setting.
- Exposure to blood and biohazard materials.
- Requires standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
