Job Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization to patients, assisting them during routine health visits or significant health decisions.
- The PSR I performs skilled blood specimen collection and prepares specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to established practices and procedures.
- This role requires direct patient interaction, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring accurate, safe, and high-quality specimen collection.
- The PSR I demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily activities accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
- Conduct both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient interactions and specimen handling.
- Promote a positive organizational image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements:
- Deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Exhibit excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Flexibility to work based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience required.
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience required.
