Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the company to patients, whether they are completing routine health screenings or making important health decisions.
  • This role is responsible for drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures are performed safely, accurately, and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • The PSR II builds trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures clearly and performing specimen collection skillfully and professionally.
  • This role requires strong leadership behaviors, a commitment to process excellence, and strict adherence to confidentiality and patient information accuracy.
  • Assignments may include working in a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature after venipuncture to confirm proper labeling.
  • Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
  • Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and organizational commitment.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to perform high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, health and safety, and guiding principles.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with minimal notice.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain transparency with peers, supervisors, and patients.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred (must also have strong written and spoken English skills).

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required – no exceptions).
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • 2 years of Patient Service Center experience preferred.
  • Retail or service-based customer service experience highly preferred.
  • Keyboard and data entry experience required.
