Job Summary:

  • The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) acts as the first point of contact for patients, delivering essential services with professionalism and skill.
  • The role involves performing blood draws and preparing specimens for lab testing.
  • The PSR I ensures patient confidence and trust by explaining procedures clearly, drawing blood with accuracy, and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Additionally, this position requires an emphasis on leadership, process excellence, and confidentiality in handling patient information.

Key Responsibilities:

Phlebotomy & Specimen Collection:

  • Perform high-quality blood specimen collections, including pediatric and geriatric patients, ensuring accuracy and safety at all times.

Patient Interaction & Care:

  • Engage with patients to create a welcoming, trustworthy atmosphere.
  • Explain procedures clearly and professionally, addressing any concerns.

Documentation & Records Management:

  • Maintain accurate, organized records of all patient interactions and specimens according to established practices.

Work Efficiency:

  • Perform all duties in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail and quality of work.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a professional environment.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements regarding specimen collection and processing.

Teamwork & Communication:

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and contribute to the overall success of the team.
  • Foster positive relationships with patients, clients, and coworkers.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Medical training:

  • Medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of direct phlebotomy experience required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
